EC: New guidelines for political parties in all 5 states

The Election Commission of India is actively monitoring the assembly elections-2022 for all 5 states (Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab, and Manipur) on regular basis. Previously, Election Commission has imposed certain electoral restrictions in all 5 states. EC has imposed these restrictions on the "method of campaigning" for all political parties. But now political parties have been given a lot of relaxation in the election campaign. On Monday, the Election Commission held an important meeting regarding campaigning and passed new guidelines for the parties.

  • According to the Election Commission, at present, no big rally, roadshow, will be allowed till February 11, 2022. However, now political parties can hold a rally (public meeting) with 1000 people in an open area. Earlier this number was fixed at 500.
  • Apart from this, now political parties will be able to hold rallies (public meetings) with 500 people indoor (in indoor space). Earlier this number was 300.
  • At the same time, now political parties can campaign from house to house with 20 people. Earlier this number was 10. The Election Commission strictly says that all political parties must ensure proper protocols related to Corona.
